We’re alive! Yes, we are still using this website and YES we are still sailing. You’d given up on us, didn’t you? I understand. It’s been much too long since I’ve sat down and written anything. Life this past year has been complicated for me. I apologize, but here we are again. 🙂
I’m writing this about six months too late. I’m sure by now (if you follow us on Instagram) you know that we’ve purchased another sailboat. No, we can’t live on it..sigh, but it’s a great little day sailer! A Cape Dory 22, to be precise. Many sailors consider the Cape Dory to be an extremely sea worthy and beautiful boat, so as you can imagine, we are very proud of her!
Back in June of last year, Dave found it listed on Craigslist for dirt cheap. It needed some work, but it came with a brand new trailer and a whole bunch of goodies. Long story short – Dave fixed her up and she’s now sitting in a slip at the Rudder Club here in Jax on the St. John River. Remember I mentioned that place in the last blog from last JULY?!?
It’s a convenient spot because it’s only 20 minutes from our apartment and about 10 minutes from my school where I work. I can’t tell you how great it feels to go on a quick little sail after the stress of a work day. We enjoyed a sailing sash this past Friday after a particularly hellish week (for me) and it was just incredible. More people need to go sailing!
I’ll post some pictures so you can check her out. Hopefully the next post won’t be a year from now. Cheers!
